BIBIR GHANA HISTORY

HOW WE ARE

BIBIR GHANA is a local NGO based in Tamale, Ghana. It was founded by Sir. Joseph Charles Osei and Joseph` Manual Sala Rodriguez in the year 2004 and registered with the Registrar General in Ghana on 21st February, 2005.
BIBIR is registered with Certificate of Incorporation number CG030042018, TIN number C0011235535 and a certificate to commence Business issued on 22nd February 2005. In accordance with the Social Welfare rules, BIBIR is registered with the Department of Social Welfare with Reg. No. D.S.W./2670. BIBIR means "childhood" in Dagaara a tribe in the Upper West Region in Ghana. Our initiative has been set up to offset the urgent needs identified in Ghana and to protect children and encourage them to study and grow as human beings, to become the major motors of change in their communities.

We believe in maintaining a long-term presence in areas so that we may help to create a better future. Sponsorship of BIBIR main projects from its inception 2004- 2012 has been by Fundació Privada Intervida in Spain. Intervida an international NGO dedicated for development. It stands to defend children’s rights and promote sustainable social change by improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations, especially children and by acting upon causes of poverty and inequality. One can read more about them on their website www.intervida.org Some of these projects sponsored include: Micro-credit loans, ICT training in both soft and hardware, Library facilities, Mobile Library to schools and providing of Extra classes for deprived junior high schools in the rural communities, crop farming and animal and livestock rearing. Subsequently, we have been funded in training of some unemployed youth in ICT by EDUKANS through Learn4work in the Netherlands. The scope of BIBIR GHANA is Regional based.

Mission

Mission To strengthen the development initiatives of communities by providing the platform necessary for community participation and action for sustainable development. It is also helping the disadvantaged communities and people in identifying the path of realization of their rights and potential for sustainable growth and development

VISION

To encourage suatainable Scio-Economic development of disadvantaged communities and people in the northern Ghana for ``The Best interest of the child``, creating an enabling Environment for the growth and Development of the child in their own communities.Our focus is to assist parents to give better education and health care to their children to be on their own and in future bring a change in their communities as role models.

OBJECTIVES

To empower women to be on their own to contribute in support of their families To also empower women to meet the needs of their children in education and health To give support to local communities to increase enrollment in schools around them.
